George has over 35 years of risk management and general insurance experience. As Senior Manager, Insurance Risk Management at Capital Power Corporation in Edmonton, he is responsible for the corporation's insurance risk management programs. Capital Power is a publicly traded Independent Power Producer with operations in 3 Canadian provinces and 7 U.S States.
Prior to joining Capital Power and its predecessor company in 2000 he spent 12 years in risk management roles with Aon, Edmonton Telephones, Telus and NovAtel Communications.
George has achieved several professional designations including CRM and FCIP. He has been active in risk management industry organizations serving on the Board of Directors of both the Northern and Southern Alberta Chapters of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) including 2 terms as President of the Northern Alberta Chapter. He has also served as a member of the RIMS Canada Council and predecessor organizations. In 2008 he was awarded the Don Stuart Award.
A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, George started his career with a major Canadian insurance company where he held numerous underwriting, reinsurance, and account representative positions.
